While taking some online courses for my USAC Cycling Coaches CEU requirements, I found this interesting one on the aging athlete. Nothing too surprising but just re-affirms the inevitable decline in power, especially after age 60. Keeping up with the strength training, keeping the high intensity training on the calendar and, limiting the accumulation of body fat getting plenty of recovery are keys. Maintaining goals that may or may not include certain race performance results (ie, stop trying to compare yourself to riders 10-20 years younger or your younger self) certainly helps with the motivation.
