Like many riders, I started cycling as a kid around the neighborhood. After high school, I received a ten-speed Schwinn as a graduation gift, which reignited my love for the sport. From there, I moved on to higher-performance bikes—Schwinn WorldSport, Trek 760, Colnago, Tomassini, Cannondale, Klein, Kuota, HED, Serotta, Specialized, Giant, Franklin, and more.

Since 1980, I’ve logged over 400,000 miles, averaging more than 12,000 miles per year for the past decade. My specialty is the individual time trial, where preparation, power, and precision all come together.

Training with Power Meters

In the 1980s, heart rate monitors transformed endurance training. Today, power meters have taken it to the next level. Unlike heart rate, which lags and fluctuates with stress or weather, power output is instantaneous and consistent.

As Ohio’s first USA Cycling Certified Power-Based Training Coach, I can help you purchase, use, and analyze power data effectively. Together, we’ll:

  • Calculate normalized power

  • Evaluate training stress scores (TSS)

  • Design personalized wattage and heart rate zones

This allows for targeted training, better event preparation, and smarter recovery strategies.

My Coaching Philosophy

My goal has always been simple: help cyclists ride longer, race stronger, and stay healthy. Whether you’re aiming for your first event or a national podium, I’ll work with you to build a plan that maximizes your potential—on and off the bike.
